The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility managed the return of an Ecuadorian who was a victim of human trafficking in Colombia.
She was duped with a bogus studio offer. Once she arrived in Colombia, she was forced to be part of a dissident armed group, the FARC, for six months.
“She was able to escape and with the help of the Colombian army, the pertinent actions were carried out with the Ecuadorian Consulate in Bogotá so that the compatriot received immediate attention,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Now, she is in Ecuador and will receive due assistance. “The Ecuadorian will enter a shelter for victims of human trafficking, with the aim of restoring her emotional balance and her health.”
