Ecuador and Costa Rica will resume negotiations for a trade agreement

The Foreign Minister of Ecuador, Mauricio Montalvo, and the Costa Rican Foreign Minister, Rodolfo Solano, agreed to raise the level of relations for a strategic alliance that deepens trade and investment, resuming negotiations for a trade agreement.

Their commitment was framed in the IV Meeting of the Political Consultation Mechanism with Costa Rica, in San José, in which Ecuador reiterated its responsibility to work to meet mutually beneficial objectives, through dialogue, cooperation and the identification of issues. of interest.

«Aware that Ecuador and Costa Rica have the responsibility to provide sustainable solutions to safeguard the world’s oceanic heritage, we will carry out the declaration for the conservation and management of the Pacific marine corridor ecosystems, signed at COP26,» said Montalvo.

In addition, he announced that they have approved five projects that they will carry out in the areas of child nutrition, gender equality, sustainable production and tourism. «Evidencing the importance of South-South cooperation and triangular cooperation with friendly countries,» he said.

«We are joined by a cordial friendship that, being based on common adherence to the principles of freedom, democracy and the fight for sustainable development, also allows us to share multiple causes in multilateral organizations,» said the Foreign Minister of Costa Rica, Rodolfo Solano.

In migration matters, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Ecuador and Costa Rica agreed that their respective migration institutions proceed to exchange information and statistical data to improve analysis and identify visa flexibility strategies to promote tourism and investments in favor of of Ecuador.
