The crisis that Quito is experiencing due to the pandemic leads the doctors to describe it as a «health catastrophe».
Public doctors have not received their remuneration for several months, but according to the Deputy Minister of Health, Javier Solorzano, «a large group has been paid.» Now the doctors announce a possible stoppage in the medical area even though the Government justifies that it has no resources in the fiscal box.
Around 3,500 public doctors have self-financed themselves and have worked in the Ministry of Public Health without receiving their remuneration for which they will stop working, according to local television.
The Deputy Minister of Health, Javier Solorzano made reference to the health crisis and said that
«We are not only experiencing a health crisis, we are also experiencing an economic crisis, the fiscal fund has been affected, and we should be grateful for the effort made by the Government of Ecuador to find resources and assign ourselves, the problem is that we have a fund prosecutor with underlying problems ».
According to Solorzano, a large part has been paid despite having low production in the country.
“There are groups that have been paid until June 30, not that it has not been paid, probably not all have received their salary, but a large group has been paid. The second element is the drop in production that was paralyzed in the country, and this affected the payment of the tax that goes to the public sector, including the Ministry (of Health) ». Solorzano said.
Regarding the shortage of tests in the Ministry of Health, Deputy Minister Solorzano, says that they are being used intelligently:
“The first, the rapid test, and the second, the PCR, are available. Not like everyone says << there should be millions >>, but there is. That we are using intelligently. The infections continue to increase, but we know the transmission rate, the virus does not move alone, it moves because the infected person moves. 54% of infected people did not respect mandatory isolation, «noted Solorzano.
Control operations are now being carried out in Quito. This allowed reducing “22%, but 78% of people do not want to accept control, social distancing, and the use of a mask. Epidemics do not expire in hospitals, they expire in the community, with the behavior of the people, to fight against this, «concludes Javier Solorzano.
