Andrés Arauz strengthens commitments with the President of Argentina for Ecuador’s access to vaccine against Covid-19

The candidate for the Presidency of the Republic for the platform Unión por la Esperanza (UNES), Andrés Arauz, met with the President of Argentina, Alberto Fernández, to talk about the cooperation between both countries and the help of this nation so that Ecuador have access to the Covid-19 vaccine.

This weekend, Arauz met with Fernández and other world leaders in the possession of the president of Bolivia, Luis Arce. At this meeting, the need for regional integration among Latin American countries and international cooperation to face the economic crisis caused by the coronavirus was reaffirmed.

Among the commitments that Arauz assumed, in case of winning next year’s elections, is access to the vaccine to combat the coronavirus. For this, Argentina will support Ecuador in order to have access to this medicine

Several pharmaceutical companies have already tested the vaccine and have found it to be 90% effective in fighting this disease.

In Ecuador, the Minister of Health, Juan Carlos Zevallos, indicated that the vaccine would arrive in the country in the second quarter of 2021, but, at the moment, in the country there are more than 174,000 confirmed cases of Covid-19 and almost 13,000 deaths in the context of this pandemic.
